Timeless Teachings in a Changing World
The curriculum of the school is broad, balanced and differentiated to accommodate the range of ability of the children in each age group. A variety of teaching styles are adapted to suit the situation, sometimes whole classes, sometimes small groups, sometimes individuals. Educational visits and visitors to the school are used fully in order to provide a stimulating curriculum for the children. The school is fully aware of the difficulties which some families may experience due to the added cost of school outings and try to keep these costs to a minimum.
All the children follow an R.E. Syllabus authorised by the Plymouth Diocese. The children are supported in the Parish for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Communion and parents are fully involved in this preparation.
The children attend Mass in St Paul's Church and Mass is also celebrated in the school on certain occasions. There are regular School Assemblies and the children may be involved in the preparation of their own Class Assemblies.
Modern Foreign Languages - French is taught weekly in KS2 classes. The school has achieved the full level of the International Schools Award (ISA).
Sex education is provided within the framework of personal, social and moral education and is given in conformity within the teaching of the Catholic Church. Parents of Year 6 children will be kept fully informed of the sex education programme and encouraged to participate in the education of their child.
Just as everyday situations change, our schemes of work and organisation will be continually under revision so that they are related to the needs of the children.
